Why Use a Water Filtration System

Why would I purchase a Seychelle filtration bottle?

That’s a logical question. I can get it right out of my tap and is free.

Let’s examine some facts about drinking water from your tap:

It is not free from your tap. You pay for water on your utility bills. You pay to have it processed into drinking water.

Larger cities are supplied water by nearby rivers or water bodies (dams) through overland drainage. The process starts at a pre-treatment facility which treats turbidity and adds chemicals. It then goes to a filtration system. You can search on your cities website to see when the system was installed and the years they were upgraded. It may shock you. The final stage is the disinfectant stage. Adding gaseous chlorine, sodium hypochlorite and in some facilities UV disinfectant.

Now let’s examine chlorine. You can do a google search and find many documented sides affects of chlorine in drinking water. Some are:

In the 1970s scientists discovered that when chlorine is added to water, it forms Trihalomethanes (THMs), one of which is chloroform. THMs increase the production of free radicals in the body and are highly carcinogenic (cancer causing).

“Cancer risk among people using chlorinated water is as much as 93 percent higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine,” according to the U.S. Council of Environmental Quality.

According to the BreastCancerFund.org, “One common factor among women with breast cancer is that they all have 50 to 60 percent higher levels of these chlorination by-products (THMs) in their fat tissue than women without breast cancer . . .”

"Long-term drinking of chlorinated water appears to increase a person's risk of developing bladder cancer as much as 80 percent,” as documented in a study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Some 45,000 Americans are diagnosed every year with bladder cancer.

Chlorine and your gut health

People are trying to get more and more probiotics in their diet lately, but the problem is that too much chlorine actually kills a lot of the beneficial bacteria in your system.

That’s how effective chlorine is at killing bacteria that it even takes away those that we need.

Because of this our immune system gets weakened and causes us to get sick more often. If you are getting more and more susceptible to colds, stomach bugs and other common ailments, it may mean that your immune system is weak and chlorine might be the reason why.

Now, armed with this small amount of information are you still comfortable drinking water from your tap?
